Capture the starting point

Write the date, your idea and the materials you chose. A quick sketch or photograph can be enough. Avoid turning the notebook into a second project that requires perfect presentation.

Record the change

When you try something different, note what prompted it and what happened. Distinguish an observation from a guess so that a future attempt has a clear starting point.

End with one next step

Finish the entry with something small you would repeat or change. Over time, the notebook becomes a personal reference for your own experience rather than a collection of instructions you never tried.
